Uff Da! The Grits Recipe That Finally Convinced This Northern Girl (And My Husband)

Being from Northern Minnesota, grits were never really a part of my culinary vocabulary! Yet, now that I have tried them. I can’t imagine why this feel good corn-based comfort food isn’t more prominent here. What’s not to love and why have we been ignoring it?

We have enjoyed dishes like Shrimp and Grits when we have traveled in Florida, but my husband proclaimed that these were the best grits he’s ever had! I honestly have never made them before, but I believe the trick is using whole milk and real butter. The corn and bell pepper added the perfect hint of texture and flavor to compliment the creamy and savory dish.

The secret is out, Minnesota! Grits aren’t just four Southerner’s any more, they’re the creamy canvas our long cold winters have been waiting for. Grab yourself some quick grits next time you’re at the store (I found them in the hot cereal section) and let’s get cooking, eh?
